A Green home
Friends:
One of the hottest trends in housing is creating a “green” home.
Green Homes save money by lowering energy bills and reducing a homes
impact on the environment. What is even more important is the pride
of ownership involved in owning a green home and the positive effect
it has on the community and the world.
This home is considered a “green” home with all the extras I used in
it. The solar board in the attic, the low E windows and ceiling fans
in every room add to this home more efficient. You can add a timer
to the outside soffit lights so that will save energy too. If you
want to do more yourself you can change your light bulbs to the new
CFL florescent bulbs.
Keep your water heater on normal setting and keep it covered.
Your instant hot water has a timer so you don’t waste energy.
Keeping your thermostat at 78 in summer and 68 in winter will help
with your bills too. Use the propane fireplace and it will save
electricity and help with your heating bills too. Have your ceiling
fans on all year round—heat rises in winter and the fans reverse to
bring the heat down. Summer it makes the rooms cooler.
You can do more yourself by adding solar lights out side when you
landscape, they are attractive and the sun is free.
A “green” home is always a good resale, and investment for you.
